The WS seal is een an secundaire seal solution to protect the primair seal in the bearing unit from violence from the outside by, for example, sand and stones and other coarse dirt.

Wound around the shaft

The extreame bearing WS seal is a wrapping seal, because it is wound around the shaft against the direction of rotation. It is a somewhat simple solution and it takes a bit of space to install it. But once installed this seal can be a perfect addition to protect the seal in the bearing housing against coarse dirt from the outside.

Dirt is turned out

The direction of how the wrap seal is wrapped around the shaft is important.
Also, the winding direction has to be against the turning direction so that the dirt is turned out of the labyrinth seal.
